Living here

Jumeirah is one of Dubai's older coastal neighbourhoods, divided into Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3 and running along the shore south-west of Al Satwa. It grew as a residential area from the 1960s onwards, and an archaeological site here points to settlement many centuries earlier. There is no single master developer.

Property is mainly independent villas on private plots and villa compounds with shared pools, plus some low-rise apartments and beachfront properties. It tends to suit families wanting a garden and space, and buyers who want public beaches, cafés and schools close by.

Jumeirah Beach Road and Al Wasl Road run through the neighbourhood, with Sheikh Zayed Road a short drive inland. Landmarks include Jumeirah Mosque, Jumeirah Public Beach and La Mer, with Kite Beach and City Walk close by. Several international schools are nearby.
